Position Summary

Provides direct clinical treatment services to patients and their families on an outpatient and inpatient basis, insuring that patients receive the treatment necessary to treat their diagnosis or disorder. Works constructively and collaboratively with other health professionals.  Focuses on attaining high standards of health care in their area of clinical expertise . Duties may include instructing, monitoring, and advising junior medical officers or other health care professionals as appropriate.


Education

Doctorate-Medicine Required

 

Experience

Competent in delivery of healthcare services for adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. Age specific competency is measured by a variety of methods, which may include, but not be limited to, self-learning packets, review of age specific guidelines, direct observation, video, simulation, unit-based class, policies and procedures, or chart review.


Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Must be licensed for Physician and Surgeon in the state. Must also maintain an Controlled Substance license for the state and Federal DEA when applicable to their specialty. Must have successfully completed, or in the process of completing, an accredited residency program. Must maintain active medical colleague's privileges and medical colleague's membership. Must be board certification or board eligible.  Licensed in the state of practice.

HSHS Medical Group is recruiting an Orthopedic Surgeon to serve as Regional Medical Director with a multi-specialty group of more than 480 providers throughout the Central and Southern Illinois area.  The position will be based at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois, just 90 minutes from St. Louis.  This is a fully accredited not-for-profit general acute care facility serving a population of over 205,000 with 146 licensed beds and over 800 employees.  St. Anthony’s Orthopedic Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Joint Replacement Program Certifications for Total Knee, Hip and Shoulder.   St. Anthony offers MAKO Robotic Orthopedic Surgery capable of performing MAKOplasty partial knee resurfacing and total hip replacement, and now includes total knee replacements.
 
The incoming Regional Medical Director will expand and develop a regional approach to orthopedic program in our 5 hospitals in Southern Illinois.  The position will comprise of 75% practicing and 25% Medical Director duties.  This time will be adjusted based on program growth.   Program developments to include minimally joint program and specialty product lines.  Current orthopedic surgeons include 3 based at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon. Projected growth of orthopedic surgeons includes 2 new at St. Anthony’s in Effingham; 1 additional in O’Fallon with Hand fellowship trained; and 1 orthopedic surgeon to cover St. Joseph’s in Highland, St. Joseph’s in Breese and Holy Family Hospital in Greenville.
